Recent findings by UNICEF revealed that, alarmingly, one child is killed every day in Gaza due to the violence, emphasizing the profound vulnerability of the younger population in this war-torn region. Families have been confined to only a third of the enclave, struggling to exist amidst the ruins of bombed-out buildings, debris, and uncollected waste, painting a grim picture of daily life in Gaza.
In a tragic instance earlier this week, the collapse of a structurally unsound building claimed the lives of at least 21 individuals, including 12 children. The Palestinian Civil Defence agency faced immense challenges retrieving bodies due to severe restrictions imposed by Israel on the import of heavy machinery and equipment necessary for recovery efforts.
On Wednesday, Gaza’s Health Ministry issued a sobering warning that the enclave’s health system is teetering on the brink of “total collapse.” This deterioration is further compounded by Israel’s ongoing limitation on medical aid and fuel, making it increasingly difficult for healthcare workers to provide essential services and care to those in dire need.
