As tensions rise in the Middle East, the conflict in Yemen continues to unfold with significant military actions taking place in various provinces. Recent advancements by Yemeni government forces into the strategic al-Dahida mountain range signal a determined effort to regain control from Houthi rebels, marking a critical phase in their ongoing campaign. This latest offensive not only underlines the complexity of the regional dynamics but also highlights the resilience and strategic calculations of the Yemeni armed forces amid a landscape of intense confrontation.

Yemeni government forces have reported successes in their military campaign, having pushed deeper into the al-Dahida mountain range located in eastern al-Jawf province. This development comes a day after the forces announced control over the heights in their ongoing offensive against the Houthis. According to a statement released on Wednesday, the armed troops, supported by airstrikes from fighter jets and drones, successfully stormed Houthi fortifications and barracks, leading to the seizure of weapons and military equipment.

The government claimed significant gains during Operation Dawn of Yemen, which has now extended into its second month. Efforts have focused on dismantling Houthi positions and fortifications, culminating in the recapture of several strategic overlooks east of al-Hazm, the provincial capital. Rashad al-Alimi, who heads the internationally recognized government’s Presidential Leadership Council, reaffirmed the operation’s commitment to restoring state institutions and the authority of the internationally recognized government across the nation.

The fighting is intensifying on multiple fronts. A Houthi ballistic missile reportedly struck a military training camp in the southern province of al-Dhalea, resulting in the tragic deaths of eight individuals and injuries to over 15 others, as conveyed by military sources. The incident occurred at the al-Jumaima camp in northern al-Dhalea during a gathering of recruits, although specific figures remain unconfirmed, with some domestic media suggesting higher casualties.

In response to Houthi threats, government forces have conducted air strikes against targets in western Taiz province. In northern Lahij, they announced the recapture of key positions in the al-Maqatira district, which is crucial for maintaining a defensive line connecting Taiz to Aden, the capital of the internationally recognized government.

Meanwhile, Houthi-affiliated media have reported several air strikes on a Central Security Forces camp in al-Bayda city, as well as a health center in the al-Silw district of Taiz. These reports indicate that Saudi-led coalition airstrikes aimed at Houthi positions have inadvertently resulted in civilian casualties, raising concerns about the humanitarian implications of the ongoing conflict.

Yemen’s Interior Minister Ibrahim Ali Haidan has pointed out that foreign experts, specifically 14 from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and seven from Lebanon’s Hezbollah, are reportedly directing Houthi operations. However, Hezbollah has vehemently denied these allegations, calling them unfounded.

In Saudi Arabia, authorities have activated early-warning sirens in the southern Najran region following missile threats, with previous alerts issued in Riyadh. Additionally, the Saudi-led coalition indicated that they had intercepted a drone over Mecca, with Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree denying that any attack on Saudi territory had taken place. The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh has cautioned that Houthi attacks on the kingdom could escalate rapidly, prompting government personnel to seek special permissions for airport use in Saudi Arabia.

This ongoing conflict in Yemen, influenced by regional dynamics, underlines the complexities of geopolitical strategies and their impact on the lives of civilians caught in the crossfire.
