As part of its commitment to saving lives, the Ocean Viking had recently rescued 87 individuals from two separate boats, including many from the conflict-embroiled nation of Sudan. Thankfully, no casualties were reported among the crew or those rescued, although the Ocean Viking itself sustained substantial damages.
