The ongoing conflict between Israel and Lebanon has escalated tragically, with recent hostilities undermining hopes for lasting peace. Despite a US-brokered ceasefire now in its third week, violence has not abated, leading to significant casualties and humanitarian distress. This precarious situation reflects broader regional tensions and highlights the urgent need for a peaceful resolution that prioritizes the security and dignity of all affected communities.
Israeli attacks across Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of at least 19 individuals, occurring amidst a United States-brokered ceasefire currently entering its third week. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health confirmed that an Israeli assault on the town of al-Saksakieh in the southern Sidon district killed at least seven people, including a child, while injuring 15 others, among them three children.
Additional attacks in various locations saw the deaths of a Syrian man and his daughter in Nabatieh, as well as three victims each in Nahrain, Saadiyat, and Haboush, and another in Mefdoun. The latest violence comes despite a ceasefire established last month, intended to halt confrontations with the armed group Hezbollah. Since the beginning of the Israeli military operation on March 2, nearly 500 individuals have been killed, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry, contributing to a tragic overall death toll exceeding 2,750.
The Israeli military has issued new forced displacement orders for several towns in southern Lebanon and continues to maintain military control over parts of the region, effectively creating a buffer zone that prevents the return of hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals
