Israel has announced that it will implement the next phase of its ceasefire agreement with Hamas, which is expected to facilitate the release of captives. Hamas has asserted that it complied with the ceasefire’s stipulations regarding the release of Yehud, which allowed for the lifting of a blockade that had previously hindered the movement of displaced Palestinians. With this development, thousands of individuals began returning to their homes in northern Gaza, which have been significantly impacted by the recent hostilities. The United Nations confirmed a notable movement of over 200,000 individuals back to their residences as they seek to rebuild their lives.
Amid these developments, the Health Ministry in Gaza reported a staggering death toll of 47,317 as a result of the conflict, with numbers continuing to rise due to ongoing discoveries of bodies beneath the rubble. The humanitarian implications of the situation remain severe, with an alarming report indicating that approximately 90 percent of Gaza’s 2.1 million inhabitants have been displaced.
