Meanwhile, the Eastern Theatre Command of China’s People’s Liberation Army criticized the British ship’s passage, labeling it as publicity stunt while confirming that its forces had monitored the vessel’s movements.

Earlier this year, another noteworthy event occurred when a Canadian warship traversed the strait shortly after a U.S. destroyer and a U.S. ocean survey ship had made similar passages.
