Despite these intentions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently announced that Israel “rejected” the plan, asserting that military operations would continue until Hamas is “genuinely disarmed.” For Nesma Harazin, a displaced writer from Gaza City’s Shujayea neighborhood, Netanyahu’s announcement was unsurprising, as the Israeli military has persistently conducted near-daily attacks, even amid a so-called “ceasefire” established with Hamas last October.
