Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has highlighted a newly unveiled ceasefire plan for Gaza, articulated by United States President Donald Trump, as a significant step towards addressing the urgent needs of Palestinians affected by ongoing conflict. In an interview with ZezapTV, Sheikh Mohammed underscored the importance of seizing this “momentum” in the pursuit of peace, emphasizing the paramount objectives of halting violence and preventing further displacement of the Palestinian people.
During the discussion, Sheikh Mohammed revealed that Doha has communicated the details of this plan, which has garnered the endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to Hamas’s negotiating team. He acknowledged the presence of “practical and implementation challenges” but expressed optimism regarding the plan’s potential to pave the way for a safer and more stable future in Gaza.
Crucially, the prime minister outlined that the core issues revolve around ensuring the protection of the Palestinian population, managing the cessation of hostilities, and establishing a framework for the Israeli military’s withdrawal. He reiterated that the management of Gaza ultimately rests in the hands of the Palestinian people themselves.
The recently proposed 20-point plan has received considerable backing from a coalition of Arab and Muslim nations including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Turkiye, and Indonesia. It stipulates an immediate end to attacks upon agreement and the establishment of full humanitarian access to the region.
